Student Voice explores human rights issues and emerging injustices that impact the lives of Lehman students and other community members. It has a student-centered focus and is told from their perspective. It aims to lift our community’s voice, enabling its members to tell their stories and share their encounters—good or bad—with human rights issues. It explores human rights violations, human rights insecurities, human rights promises realized, and ways for progressively realizing basic human rights that for too many people remain out of reach. It will cover human rights issues broadly conceived and cover all aspects of our students’ lives. 

Student Voice tells stories from the point of view of students and helps the Lehman College community understand the importance of human rights right here in the Bronx and surrounding areas. The purpose of the blog is to create a better understanding of human rights and to build a larger community of human rights practitioners and advocates. It is a space for students to express themselves, learn, advocate, and convene on a basis of mutual respect among members of the human community.
